Listen "Week 1: The Call of Discipleship"
Episode Synopsis
In this message, Pastor B explores what true discipleship looked like in biblical times from Matt 4:18-22—and what it means today. Unlike modern discipleship programs tied to classes or curriculum, Jesus’ call to discipleship was a call to follow a Person, not just learn information.
In first-century culture, becoming a disciple meant leaving everything to live like your rabbi. But Jesus flipped the script—He sought out ordinary people, not the elite, and invited them to follow Him, be formed by Him, and live on mission with Him.
The disciples dropped their nets—leaving behind identity, security, and control—to center their lives around Jesus. As they walked with Him, they were slowly transformed in heart, character, and purpose, becoming more like Him.
True discipleship is a lifelong process of surrender, formation, and mission. It’s not just about knowing theology—it’s about letting Jesus shape your whole life and joining Him in His work.
Sticky Statement: If you’re following Jesus, you’re fishing for people.
