Listen "Review: A Bloodier, More Mediocre "The Crow""
Episode Synopsis
With his bulky build and numerous emo tattoos, Bill Skarsgård's Crow costume brought up memories of Jared Leto's Joker from Suicide Squad and Soundcloud rapper chic on Sadisflix. However, Eric's image within the narrative is handled expertly. Because he is a graphic artist as a hobby, his tattoos are more an expression of his artistic inclinations than a fake-tough persona. He is believable streetwise. Even though Rupert Sanders delivers a lot of melancholic, rain-soaked scenes, the film doesn't have a really Gothic aesthetic. Rather, The Crow connects with that goth feel through its electro-tinged score and needle-drop cues from artists like Joy Division and Gary Numan. The cues may initially seem a little forced, but they gradually become less noticeable.
