This new season will explore "the Great Controversy", and so we start with some of the biggest questions about good and evil. It is easy to get tied up in knots with this sort of thing, ending up squeezed into a rhetorical corner that sounds like God is responsible for bad things in the world. In a way that's the whole point of this theme and exploration - searching for a way to express a deep conviction that God is good and just even while we acknowledge pain and suffering. We definitely have more questions than answers, which is perhaps appropriate for this introductory episode of the season.
