Today on RÚV English Radio, a trip to the Laufey Bakki Welcome Centre - en route to Vestmannaeyjar on the Westman Islands, from where we will soon bring you a series of programmes.

Situated on Route One, at the exit for the Vestmannaeyjar ferry terminal at Landeyjahöfn, the Laufey Bakki Welcome Centre (https://www.laufey.org/en/) is hoped to be the first of a new series of largely automated and always (or nearly always) open service stops, for travellers, around Iceland. For sale are hot food and essentials, and the centre also features touch screen information boards, great views, and truly space age toilet facilities!
