💁🏻 Concept: Speaking in Tongues
Among Christian traditions, there are two kinds of speaking in tongues:
1. Glossolalia is ecstatic speech, unintelligible, and not a human language.
2. Xenolalia, however, is the miraculous ability to speak real human languages unknown to the speaker, as seen at Pentecost in Acts 2, where diverse nations heard the gospel in their own tongue.
📖 Bible Readings: Acts 2:4-12
(Acts 2:1–12; 1 Corinthians 12:10–11; 1 Corinthians 14:18–19, 27–28, 39–40)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
Speaking in Tongues:
1. It is an intelligible human language.
2. It requires interpretation.
3. It confirms the gospel for all nations.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Do not obsess over studying speaking in tongues.
2. Pray with your own language.
3. Avoid mysticism and shamanism.
🎙Discussion:
Do you believe that speaking in tongues in the Bible is human language (Xenolalia) or heavenly language (Glossolalia)?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for giving us Your Spirit and the truth of Your Word. Please give us wisdom to talk about tongues with humility and kindness, always putting Christ first. Keep us from pride, confusion, and fighting. Help us love one another even when we do not agree. Teach us to treasure our unity in the gospel more than our differences. Help as respect one another even though we have differences in theology. May our prayers, words, and worship bring glory to You alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.
💁🏻 Concept: Son of God
The title “Son of God” designates Jesus as the eternal, divine Son who is equal in nature with the Father. Biblically, this title reveals His deity, His unique relationship with the Father, and His role in redemption. Unlike believers who are called children of God by adoption, Jesus is the Son by nature, sharing the same essence with the Father. In the Old Testament, the promised Messiah was called God’s Son, fulfilled perfectly in Christ. This title safeguards both the full deity of Christ and His eternal Sonship. To deny it is to undermine the gospel, for only the divine Son could accomplish salvation for sinners.
📖 Bible Readings: John 1:14
(Psalm 2:7, 22:22; John 5:18; Hebrews 1:3, 2:11; Colossians 1:15–17; John 1:1-3, 14; Matthew 12:49-50, 28:10; Mark 3:34-35; John 20:17; Romans 8:29; )
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
1. Jesus is the one and only Son of God.
2. Jesus is our sacrificial and loving Big Brother.
3. Jesus’ blood secures our adoption into God’s family.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Show gratitude by loving like Jesus.
2. Sacrifice for Jesus by offering your best.
3. Share Christ without being ashamed.
🎙Discussion:
To whom will you share the power of the blood of Christ today?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ. He is my Big Brother who has loved me to the very end. He died on the cross on my behalf and bore the penalty of the sins I deserve. In gratitude, I ask that Your Spirit enable me to remain loyal to Christ until my final breath. Deepen my commitment to Jesus and help me live not for myself but for Him alone. Jesus is the Son of God, my King, who died for me. Lord, I offer my life to You as a living sacrifice. May You be glorified. In Christ’s name, amen.
