This week we will be doing an exercise known as Sama Vritti Pranayama, or “box breathing.” This practice has many benefits, such as reducing blood pressure and heart rate, and is used by clinicians to help treat anxiety, depression and chronic pain (among other things). It is even used by the U.S. Navy SEALs as a tool to combat the chronic stress that they experience on a daily basis.
