Listen "Honor & Anger: Practical Tips for Effective Parenting"
Episode Synopsis
Two days ago, I scrolled through my timeline on Facebook looking at all the wonderful pictures of children heading back to school (I live in Texas by the way, so school began for us on August 15th). I imagined the nerves of the little ones who were starting school for the first time, or the excitement of the ones heading into their senior year of high school. I thought about the parents who may share some of the same nerves or excitement but who also be experiencing the heavy weight of expectation. Parenting is not a game for the weak. As we seek to parent in a way that is loving and effective, trying to balance discipline with reward can be challenging. Instilling respect versus fear. Encouraging versus molding. Loving versus enabling. It’s A LOT friend. A lot. In this coming series Honor and Anger we’re going to discuss practical tips for parenting that will leave our children enriched and our relationships stronger. So why Honor and Anger? The title is inspired by our series scripture Ephesians 6:1-4. God’s word commands that our children honor us…but it also commands that we not stir up anger in them. There’s a lot to discuss between the first command and the second. If you’re a parent desiring to be more effective or someone who desires to one day be a parent, this series is for you. Honor & Anger begins tonight. Let’s get started.
