Listen "Ep 29 Interview w/ Alyssa: Why is it important to laugh? & reflections from her first stand-up comedy set"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome Back to Nuanced Beauty!
INTERVIEW EPISODE
Today I (Christina) reconnect with a classmate from college who recently did her FIRST-EVER stand-up comedy set and LOVED it.
Now, I'm not a funny person and I frequently don't get jokes. I tend to travel the literal path of life, so humor takes me a hot minute to connect with, but many people connect and resonate with comedy! It makes them tick and they're naturally inclined to love it.
Alyssa makes an insightful point to the importance of humor by drawing out a connection to thermodynamics and a Boggart (think Harry Potter).
We then dive into her own journey of what led her to do this stand-up show. We go over a few interesting tidbits about what makes a joke, and also consider the art of connecting with the audience and being acutely aware of your timing.
If you happen to be in the Dallas area, she's already scheduled her next open mic on June 2nd, and another one on July 1st! Go see her and everyone else at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater.
