Listen "Marine Corps Leadership Trait: Unselfishness"
Episode Synopsis
Unselfishness should be a the top of any leader's priority list. This trait speaks directly to a leader's motives for being a leader. Being an unselfish leader ensures the leader's motives are never questioned by the team.
The Marine Corps defines unselfishness as avoidance of providing for one's own comfort and personal advancement at the expense of others. This reminds me of a lesson I learned as a Marine NCO and Simon Sinek later wrote a book about - leaders eat last.
Since unselfishness is so important, let's discuss a few ways to establish this trait in your leadership.
1) Care more about the team than yourself
2) Express appreciation regularly
3) Study others that promote servant leadership
