Research shows that exposing children to manageable amounts of stress while putting them in uncomfortable situations can build resilience and confidence. Dennis Charney, MD, explains how he did this with his own family, and his son, Alex Charney, MD, joins the conversation. They share personal stories of resilience and emphasize the importance of having role models from a young age. Dr. Charney is Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and President for Academic Affairs for the Mount Sinai Health System.
