Listen "Mental Health Awareness "
Episode Synopsis
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Elizabeth McMasters is here to talk with Jess Ellett more about this topic and to offer some guidance for anyone that might experience a crisis with a loved one. Elizabeth explains what an Emergency Custody Order (ECO) is and how to get one. She also explains more about the option of a Temporary Detention Order and what the process is in Virginia for obtaining one. And we discuss guardianship and when that may be necessary. One of the things that can be the most challenging things we might face is suddenly finding a loved one in a mental health crisis - and realizing that they can no longer advocate for themselves. Elizabeth provides insight into how to be an advocate for your loved one.
