Episode Synopsis

Welcome back to Rising Warriors Rachael Kulei Podcast. Today we are going to talk about "What is an Elder?" with Professor and Native Eductator Rochelle Kulei.

In Native American and Indigenous Cultures, we have respect and honor for our Elders. We care for them as they once cared for us. I am wanting to talk about this becasue I am seeing a huge lack of knowledge in this world about even knowing what an Elder even is. The white culture does not live in these ways of honor and respect. I see many forget their Elders and in the times we are in now, I'm seeing it even more with the world and even with the Indigenous younger generations. They too have forgotten our Elders and how to care for them, listen to their wisdom and teachings, respect and love. The language and stories, teachings and lessons leave with them. It is up to us to learn to keep our Traditions, languages and cultures alive. It is up to us! Are you honoring and taking care of your Elders? Are you taking heed to their words of wisdom?

Join me as we listen to our Elder Rochelle Kulei from the NorthWest Band of Shoshone Nation speak on "What is an Elder".
