Thomas Barr is vice president of business development for Local First Arizona. He says as soon as business emergency funds became available, LFA organized members for a letter-writing campaign to the governor saying, “We need federal aid for small businesses.” Moving fast was critical because the bureaucratic hurdles are high. Arizona was one of the first states able to access federal disaster loans, Thomas says, “but we had to be on it right from the beginning.”
