MISSION, RGBV - Killam Development wants the general public to participate in the designing of a 3,400-acre master-planned community on the Shary Plantation in Mission and McAllen.The Laredo-based group recently held a week of public workshops to secure the public’s input. Utilizing a hands-on design format, people of all ages helped make decisions about quality of life issues such as walking and biking trails, park space, access to entertainment and more.The workshops and focus groups were led by consultants from Able City and Dover, Kohl & Partners, a group of professional architects, designers, land planners and artists.This podcast features the last session of the public workshops, with Jason King, a principal and vice president at Dover, Kohl & Partners, unveiling details of what the general public has requested.Killam Development is a private, family-owned business that has operated in South Texas for more than 100 years. In 2019 it acquired approximately 3,400 acres in Mission and McAllen that will be the site of a large master planned development with places for people of all generations to live, work and play.
