In episode 7, the second in our series on pandemic flu, we spoke with Kelly McKinney who is the Senior Director of Emergency Management & Enterprise Resilience at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. From 2013 to 2016, he was the Chief Disaster Officer at the American Red Cross in Greater New York, where he led crisis response in the largest and busiest Red Cross region in the US. From 2006 to 2013 Mr. McKinney was Deputy Commissioner for Preparedness at the NYC Office of Emergency Management, where he built the New York City preparedness infrastructure for a range of external threats. In 2008 he co-founded the Regional Catastrophic Planning Team with representatives from the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He is a certified Professional Engineer with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and an MPA from Columbia University in the City of New York.
