Basil was an early church father who pioneered monastic living. He lived in Asia and gave up pretty much all his belongings to encourage people to live a life of simpleness for God.
In his sermon, "To The Rich," he challenges the men of his time to repent and change their greedy hearts. He uses the Gospel to explain that too many are more interested in accumulation than in trusting in God.
