Stephen was but a Deacon when he was cornered by the wicked Sadducees and  Pharisees in Acts chapter 7.  So heart-pricking was his preaching that his audience could not resist the power thereof for  when they heard his message, they were cut to the Heart and they gnashed their teeth. If a congregation of people who came with stones and clubs  to kill a deacon were greatly privileged to hear the preaching that cut their heart how can it be that a congregation of people with offerings and tithes in their hands in our days is greatly  deprived the truth of God’s word?.  Genuine preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is like a surgeons blade which pricks, cuts and restore  the heart - Hebrews 4 vs.12 - That is the preaching we need!
