Listen "Forgiveness is Your Freedom"
Episode Synopsis
Send us a textForgiveness is a complex and multifaceted concept that plays a significant role in personal growth, relationships, and emotional well-being. Sometimes, we’re not ready to forgive the people in our life who have hurt us., we feel justified to withhold forgiveness. We may feel we drew the short straw on our parents, or have been betrayed by those we thought cared about us. But if we allow ourselves to stay in this place of hurt and resentment, our inability to forgive bleeds out in other areas. All the small annoyances of daily life, suddenly become places where un-forgiveness resides. It leads to bigger resentments, feelings of inadequacies or a sense of entitlement to punish others in our own behaviours. This episode covers the pain and suffering we cause to ourselves when we hold onto un-forgiveness. It discusses some ways that forgiving frees you and may even challenge you to consider your reasons for wanting to hold onto your suffering. Forgiveness, like most things in life, is a choice. And if you choose it, forgiveness will bring you freedom.A word of warning: I do discuss, very briefly, my sexual assault history and have provided some statistics. This starts at 3.52 and we move on at 5.56. I have also created a chapter so you can skip ahead if needed. As a sexual assault survivor, I know just how triggering this can be so want you to know that ahead of this episode. The statistics cited in the episode regarding sexual assaults and violence are below:https://www.abs.gov.au/articles/sexual-violence-victimisationhttps://www.who.int/news/item/09-03-2021-devastatingly-pervasive-1-in-3-women-globally-experience-violenceThe quotes in todays episode:“There are no justified resentments.”- Wayne Dyer"Forgiveness is not an occasional act; it is a constant attitude." - Martin Luther King Jr.“You can never be free of bitterness, as long as you can continue to think unforgiving thoughts. How can you be happy in this moment if you continue to choose to think angry and resentful thoughts? Thoughts of bitterness cannot create joy, no matter how justified you feel you are, no matter what THEY did. If you insist on holding onto the past, then you will never be free.” - Louise Hay "Forgiveness is not an exoneration of the wrongdoer, but a release of the grip of resentment and thoughts of revenge." - Catherine Ponder“There is no point in asking someone what’s the matter with you, we might rather ask- who’s the matter with you? Un-forgivness is the most prolific cause of disease. Every disease is caused by a mind not at ease.” - Florence Scovel-Shinn “Forgiveness of yourself, and others, will release you from the prison of the past.” - Louise Hay"Without forgiveness, life is governed by an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation." - Roberto Assagioli “Only in the present moment, can you create your future. If you are holding onto the past, you cannot BE in the present. It is only in this NOW moment, that your thoughts and words are powerful. So you really don’t want to waste your current thoughts to continue to create your future from the garbage of the past.” -Louise Hay"Forgive others, nohttps://www.instagram.com/reverseresetrestore/?fbclid=IwAR0ycrx4XHwDTZIwEx5LpeXF2NQOJ3cK1eJ7P1nUezK3REQR6wdBm3Mr_nYhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092872185263
