In this episode, I’m taking a trip down memory lane to share how Resume Assassin came to life. Back in 2008, I started my first resume writing gig, Brown Dinosaur, named after my crazy, energetic boxer, Mixi. I had no clue what I was doing—Craigslist ads and flyers weren’t cutting it, and the recession didn’t help either. That business flopped fast, but it taught me a ton and set me up for what came next.

Fast forward to 2013, my husband and I were sweating it out on a summer walk in Austin, throwing around business ideas. I wasn’t sure I had the chops to make anything happen, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I loved helping people with resumes. That’s when the idea for Resume Assassin hit me (after “Resume Slayer” was taken, of course). My husband helped me bring the badass brand to life, and it felt like everything clicked—bold, creative, and all me.

Since then, it’s been a grind building this thing brick by brick. I’ve poured my heart into helping clients land interviews and turn their careers around. What started as a side hustle is now my full-time gig, and yeah, it’s been scary, but it’s also been amazing. In this episode, I’m sharing the ups, downs, and everything in between about turning a passion into something bigger.
