Listen "Ep 6 - Resilience Rising Podcast - Rachel Modest"

Episode Synopsis

Rachel Modest is a solo singer, lead singer of The Bluefoot Project, and gospel choir director. About to give up on a career in the music industry, and at a low point in her life, she agreed to go on Series 11 of the ITV singing competition show, The Voice UK. All four judges turned around and gave her a standing ovation. She chose Sir Tom Jones as her mentor and over the weeks we saw her progress through as far as the semi finals. She was nominated for ‘Best Performance in a TV show’ at the Urban Music Awards and on this episode she talks about resilience from her perspective in the music industry.
We talk about the music teacher that told her she was too ugly to make it, the male dominated nature of record companies, how age and location still matter, and yet did it matter to Bach and Beethoven?
