The Lord sees the wickedness of man and is grieved—not because He is weak, but because His holiness burns against sin. And yet, “Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” This is grace—sovereign, undeserved, initiating. The hope of the world hinges on God’s free choice to preserve a people for Himself.
