Episode Synopsis

We're goin' Thanksgiving Mode on Sunday - gettin' into the gratitude groove. The words - thanks, thanksgiving, grateful, and gratitude - aren't in this psalm. But you can hear the word, the idea resonating underneath this entire psalm. It's an acrostic; each new line begins with the next letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It's an artsy fartsy way of communicating completeness - wholeness - fullness. Everything good that happens on this planet is because of the divine. It's all gift. We'll talk about two things:

Gratitude is learned - one generation will commend your works to another. Here we are stopping to talk about teaching gratitude from parent to child, etc.

Gratitude is theological - it's rooted in the very person and being of the divine. We'll talk about three different attributes of the divine given in this psalm: God is gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. God is powerful - the same God who created the universe is able to pick us up and transform lives. God is near - God is closer than the air we breathe - all we have to do is pay attention
