Listen "Ep 27 My Dad Iwan Hnatiuk - Annya Stoddart"
Episode Synopsis
Annya's Dad developed vascular dementia in his late 70's and within a few years had forgotten how to walk. After spending 6 months in various hospital beds he was referred to a care home with a special dementia wing. For quite a long time (even before his dementia) he had problems with an ulcer on his foot that struggled to heal. This got worse in the care home and he developed gangrene. There was nothing that could be done in the end to help him by the hospital, which is when they told the family he only had 2 or 3 weeks left to live. Annya also discusses how mediation has helped with her grief journey.
