Listen "7 Lessons from 29 Years of Existence (a.k.a. part of the user guide I wish I got when incarnating as a human) "
Episode Synopsis
Growing up in America was... really strange. In a culture where many of us can viscerally feel that things aren't what they seem, where we can feel that so much is left out, we're basically left to our own devices to cope with that weirdness and find meaningful ways to be in the world. My (often very humbling) experience navigating this strange landscape for a solid 29 years now is what's led me to this work in food forestry, permaculture, systems thinking, and now podcasting. It's been like discovering clues as shiny threads as I've gone along, collecting them, and starting to weave something that resembles a life that I actually like. During one of those nights where the ideas keep coming instead of sleep, I realized there are several key things I REALLY wish someone would have told me about being a person from the get go. And the decision to record those is where this episode is coming from: an attempt at a partial mini manual about being incarnated as a person that's radically different from what we're taught in school and socialized into by the media.
