Listen "Reconciliation/Restoration"
Episode Synopsis
Deep Dive into Cornerstone by Jeremy Prayer - Reconciliation/RestorationRestoring a relationship means bringing it back to its proper condition or what it should be in God's eyes. While reconciliation focuses on re-establishing peace and harmony, restoration is the deeper, subsequent step of repairing the relationship, likened to mending nets to put them back together properly. There isn't a single, universal answer for how to restore a relationship, as it depends on many specific factors within that unique dynamic. To navigate this, one must ask practical questions: Does the relationship need to return to its previous state? (The answer might be "maybe, maybe not," as the nature of the restoration can vary). What does your conscience, informed by scripture, indicate as right? What guidance do godly counselors offer? What other biblical principles apply to your situation? Should changes be made to the relationship, and if so, for what reasons? It’s important to remember that restoration doesn't mean pretending past wrongs never happened; consequences for actions can still exist. The entire process of restoration should be approached in love. This involves a purposeful commitment to love God and, flowing from that, to love the other person as you love yourself. It requires embodying the characteristics of biblical love from 1 Corinthians 13, such as being patient and kind, not jealous or arrogant, and not seeking one's own way. A key aspect of this is going into difficult conversations with a greater desire to understand than to be understood. This active, self-sacrificing love, empowered by God's love poured into believers, guides efforts despite feelings. Ultimately, the goal is to diligently do your part to restore the relationship to what pleases God, even if the desired outcome isn't always possible.Reformed Theologian GPT: https://chat.openai.com/g/g-XXwzX1gnv-reformed-theologianPatreon: patreon.com/edi_reformed
