In a way, to say that the church 'gathers' is to repeat yourself because the word church means to gather. It would be like saying 'the congregation congregates.' Nevertheless, it's worth thinking together about why the Bible tells us to gather. Indeed, why that is so central to what we are as a group of believers that we are simply called a 'gathering'. Why do we gather? How are we to think about that? What pitfalls do we face as followers of Jesus in the 21st century as we gather? This is our topic for today as we continue to consider what the Bible tells about the church, or the gathering.
