Psalm 42 presents a real, down-to-earth, gritty example of what it looks like to be human. The Psalmist writes of physical pain, emotional torment and separation from God - all of which produces a downcast, thirsty soul within him. We too have to deal with earthly suffering and must wrestle with being separated from God. Yet amongst all of the pain, the Psalmist reminds us that the solution to a downcast & thirsty soul is to hope in God, who is our saviour.
