Saul has officially been selected by God as Israel's first king, but in order for him to do well with this massive task he will need more than good ancestry and good appearance. Through 1 Samuel 10 God equips Saul with four spiritual advantages that set him up to be a successful king. A calling by God always includes equipping from God. The calling that God has placed on Saul's life is miraculously confirmed through God's prophet, is encouraged by God's presence, is made possible by God's power, and is supported by God's people. Saul is given every advantage to be a truly great king, to be able to fulfill the calling God has placed on his life. Whether or not Saul succeeds is completely dependent upon his willingness to submit to the Lord or go his own way. God has placed a calling on your life as well. Do you know what it is? Are you pursuing it? Are you rebelling against it? Right now is the right time to dedicate your life to what Jesus has for you.
