Listen "Woven Together"

Episode Synopsis

Explicit content warning, especially for parents. The passage of 1Corinthians we are currently studying together does not shy away from talking explicitly about sex. Pastor Adam set the context for us last week, powerfully calling all of us to greater honesty with our sexual struggles and reminding us that what we do with our physical bodies is deeply entwined with our spiritual lives. This week and next we will stay in the same passage and ask, “Why does it matter so much what we do with our bodies, especially sexually?” This week we will focus on what we long for, but often don’t realize we already have. Next week our focus will be on what we think we have, but actually don’t.This Sunday we will think about this question together, “Why do people have sex?” If you currently have an active sex life ask yourself, “Why do I have sex?”Parents need to know that I will talk openly about sex including masturbation, orgasm, prostitution, pornography, and most importantly God’s creation of and celebration over marital sex. Parents will need to decide what is appropriate for their child. We will have our regular children’s programs for all kids 5th grade and younger. If you would rather your 6th grade or older child not hear this kind of content you have two options. You can contact Amanda Knox ([email protected]), our Children’s Ministry Director, or Pastor Adam Feichtmann ([email protected]) and ask if your child can help serve in the children’s Sermon Time program this Sunday, or you can take your child out and stay with them during the sermon portion of the service. We cannot guarantee that there will be enough room for your child to help serve during Sermon Time so whoever contacts Amanda or Adam first will get priority.Take a few minutes this weekend to read, meditate on, and pray through 1Corinthians 6:12-20. Ask yourself seriously, “Why do people have sex?”Pastor David
