Um… What? He can’t really mean that, right?Read 1 Corinthians 2:6-16. Doesn’t this seem almost the opposite of what the Apostle Paul wrote in the opening of this letter? How are we to make sense of this? Is there really some kind of “secret” wisdom that only some special people get? If so how would we get it?Now read 1Corinthiains 3:1-4. For a people longing to be wise, longing to be special this would have been tough to hear, even enraging. Paul wants to open up for them whole new vistas of thriving communion with God and each other, but they must stop acting as if they are “merely human.” What they long for is theirs for the taking, but will they take it?
