When Israel faced a natural disaster—a locust plague—the Prophet Joel used this event to teach God’s people about the Day of the Lord, when God would enter into history to judge and to save. In light of the coming judgement Joel called Israel to return to the Lord with their hearts. He taught that God is gracious, merciful, and abounds in steadfast love. What’s more, this God will make a full restoration to the fallen world and pour out his Spirit upon all peoples. Join us this Sunday, and together, we’ll seek to understand Joel’s teaching as well as its fulfillment in the great day of Pentecost.Pastor Josh
