In Matthew 21:33-46 we see Jesus’ authority comes from the vineyard owner: God. God has been extremely patient with the Jewish leaders of his people, and these people have repeatedly rejected his disciples, prophets and messengers. God looks for Fruit, or life in obedience to the law, yet these leaders have not been producing it.
Now they are about to destroy the vineyard owner’s son, Jesus, because they think that this will lead to their ongoing authority over the people. But the owner of the vineyard will have the last word when he replaces these leaders with Jesus’ disciples who will produce fruit.
This parable is about the redemption. the prediction of Jesus death and resurrection. And how Jesus would rather have people who say no first and then obeys him afterwards rather than people who says yes to him but does the opposite instead. the landowner: God will replace the horrible defiant tenants with new tenants who will provide him with fruits and willing to obey Him.
Main idea:
We must live a fruitful life for God’s glory.
