Listen "Imaginary Horizons: Mental Retreats Through Visualization"
Episode Synopsis
Sitting in the kitchen eating my Golden Grahams, I visualized being back at an Airbnb with my family on a beach vacation. I was on a bike ride with my brother, sitting on the deck with my sister, and relaxing on the front porch with my mom and kids all while consuming that one bowl of cereal. My body may still be here, but my mind is my passport wherever I want to go. Meditation and visualization blur the lines between reality and wishful thinking, and my senses don’t know the difference. The retreat I crave is within me and always accessible when I choose to go there.I’m happy to report I walked over to the community gym today. I put in my air pods and listened to The Nightingale while on the elliptical machine with my eyes closed. Awkward? Yes. But it worked for about 15 minutes before my vestibular symptoms shut me down. We are going to call that a WIN! Exercising with a vestibular disorder has been a challenge, but it has not defeated me yet. 💪Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and YouTube.
