Episode Synopsis

There's something miraculous about gratitude. It's like a gentle wave acceptance and appreciation that slowly wraps around me as I sit and search for something to be grateful for. Our brains are programmed to go right to the negative to protect us—being positive feels unnatural. Once we practice being more positive, our brain becomes accustomed to it. Also, we get a boost of serotonin and dopamine when we have feelings of gratitude. And just like a true alcoholic, I keep going back to that which feels good.
Sometimes, my gratitude lands short of anything profound. But for me, when I find that gratitude at the basic level, it often opens doors to even deeper and broader appreciation. Let's take Maslow's hierarchy of needs as our guide and see how each layer can blossom into a garden of gratitude.
Listen to this episode to here learn how you can build a rich tapestry of gratitude that blankets your life by starting at the very first level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Gratitude is a choice, and the more you choose to see the more there seems to be.
