Listen "THE PSYCHOLOGY OF LETTING GO - the power of a forgiving heart"
Episode Synopsis
Unforgiveness is the act of not letting go of an offense. Holding on to hurt. Holding on to a grievance. Holding a grudge in an effort to punish the offender but at the end the only person that suffers the most is the individual that is unwilling to forgive.
To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.- C.S. Lewis
Forgiveness is an act of the will and not something that is birthed out of our emotions.
Unforgiveness is
Rooted in PRIDE
It’s narcissistic
opens the door to the enemy
Grieves the HS
Proof of a hardened heart
Puts a stronghold on our lives
Becomes bitterness and eventually affects our health
Immobilizes the hand of God
Brings destruction into our lives
IT IS FUELED BY HATE
You know you have issues with unforgiveness when:
You are easily angered
You are impulsive
You want to air your grievances
You are compulsive
You don’t take responsibility for your feelings
You are constantly sick
You gossip about that individual
You feel righteous and entitled
Jesus told his disciples (Luke 17:1) ”its impossible for no offenses to come your way” (NKJV)
you can’t avoid them, they are not selective
its not “if they come” its when they come
OFFENSES WILL COME
its impossible to hide from it
you can’t dodge it
the longer you live the more you will have to face them
Your capacity to process and manage offenses will determine your overall outcome.
If you are not able to confront and overcome an offense what makes you think that God is going to entrust you with a greater task
God’s not looking for perfection just disposition. He’s not looking for talent, he’s in search of hearts that are meek and gentle.
If you get bent out of shape over the most minute situations you can forget about being commissioned by Him for something that’s bigger than you.
