Did you ever have a chore list growing up, when your parents left for a day or evening? A series of mostly mindless tasks to do and they pretty much always repeated: wash the dishes, clean your room, feed the dog... on and on, day after day. Many Christians fall into a pattern where they treat spiritual disciplines like a chore list from Jesus when He left for heaven - go to church, check, read your bible, check, give a little money, check... but Jesus didn't leave us a check list of items to complete, he left us a commission that would challenge us to trust Him and take risks.
