Matt has been in the commercial space, he started on the single family space and he is absolutely crushing it. He believes wholeheartedly that he can do well and do well at the same time. Matt was one of the first thought leaders as a millennial in Rochester to do stuff in real estate and really give back to aspiring investors and even people who had been in the business for a while. To start it off Matt shares his story, how he started as a resideential real estate agent. He started under his father’s wing; his father was a full time realtor for five or six years before he got in. He shared his story when he got exposed to commercial or let’s say commercial financing. Furthermore they also tackled how to find your own deals. What is the next step for somebody who has done a deal or two who’s been using commercial banking. Matt added that he always started from being known as the go-to person on a particular subject matter. Why he put so much into guesting on podcasts, doing events and putting a lot of hopefully valuable content on social media. In conclusion they talked about the biggest difference between commercial and residential is environmental. if you're get buying a property using a hard money lender make sure you're doing environmental due diligence on any property that has any type of commercial component. You also want to make sure that you're teamed up with talking to the right lender. 99% of people want to help you, but if you don't really necessarily know what you're looking for, they can't help you, it's really important to get really clear on what you're searching for, what you’re looking for or what you’re trying to buy.
