On today's episode of Real Creative Humans, I sit down with Clarence Heyward.Clarence Heyward is a painter whose work delves into cultural truths,challenges stereotypes, and explores identity, especially within thecontext of the Black American experience. He creates dynamicfigurative art, utilizing subjects who are people of color as an homage tohis culture. His art practice involves challenging stereotypes and myths,offering social commentary, critiquing perceptions, and fosteringdialogues, primarily viewed through the lens of the Black Americanmale experience. His work draws from his life experiences as a Blackman, husband, and father in America, incorporating personal andcollective narratives that highlight Black bodies and reinterpreting Blackexistence in imagery.Heyward's work has been showcased nationally in various spaces,including:• 21c Museum of Durham• The Harvey B.
