Listen "S11E1 | Could a recent US settlement have an effect on Canadian real estate? REAL Collective Podcast"
Episode Synopsis
Could a recent US settlement have an effect on Canadian real estate? In this episode of the REAL Collective Podcast, Sean Tasse (Broker) and Kyle Miller (Mortgage Agent) break down the possibilities.
In the first half Sean and Kyle briefly discuss a tale of two markets (those that are priced right versus those that are overpriced). They then move on to the recent landmark settlement that was announced last month and how similar cases are happening here in Canada with the Toronto Real Estate Board. They explain the crux of the issue (the Competition Act and Commissions) specifically buyer's side commissions. They talk about what could happen down the line and how this could be difficult with the current mortgage structure here in Canada.
In the second half our hosts discuss three hot money topics that have been in the news recently.
1. Bare Trust and the CRA
2. A Renter's Bill of Rights
3. OSFI looking to put a limit on loan to income ratio
