David mentioned that the words of the Lord, he kept it inside his heart,
he took it very seriously, and as he kept it very seriously,

We live in a day and age where we take action before even thinking, we mostly do not go by our thoughts,
we don't think before we do something. 
It's a natural instinct of the flesh, rather than thinking if this is what God wants, have you prayed about it?
