Dr Sarah Katherine Mundy is on the #ReadingWithYourKids #Podcast to celebrate her Parenting Through Stories series of #ChildrensBooks. Dr Sarah is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and mother to three young boys. She tells us that over the past two decades, she has discovered a great deal about what helps (and hinders) family life, as well as ways to promote positive child development. After having her first child, Sarah read a number of parenting books and  found they often told a parent what to "do" to their child rather than how to work "with" them to make things easier.What surprised her most was the lack of a story or a voice for the child within such books. Sarah knew the significance of storytelling socially, culturally and developmentally. She felt that having books to read with her children which explicitly asked about their own feelings and experiences would help parents and children navigate tricky times.
