In this episode we find out the people’s fate for refusing to obey God and go up and possess the land. God at first wants to destroy them all. But Moses interceded for the people and God decided He would just let them die in the wilderness. So they were condemned to wonder in the wilderness until they all died (40 years). God would take their children, the next generation in to possess their promised land of Canaan. The 10 spies who gave the negative report faced a swift judgement- they were killed by a plague. After the people realized their fate, they tried to go up and fight after the Lord had rejected them. They were defeated because the presence of the Lord didn’t go with them. So what can we learn from this lesson? When God tells you to do something, sometimes you have to do it sacred (as Joyce Meyers said). We don’t want to miss our chance by not obeying God. And remember if you miss your window of opportunity (miss your chance), it could be years before God allows you to try it again.
