Episode Synopsis "Trailer"
As a part of Wadsworth Magnet School for High Achiever's Read America celebration, our students’ podcast embodies the 2021 “Read Across the Lines” theme. guided by the state and social justice standards, chose a research focus, conducted research, and recorded their findings. Our 6th graders planned and edited a podcast to share some of what they learned with the community at large as a part of our Read Across the Lines events. Standards covered in this podcast: SS6H1a. Describe the influence of African slavery on the development of the Americas. ELAGSE6RI7: Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue. ELAGSE6W2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content. ELAGSE6W6: Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others. DI.6-8.8 I am curious and want to know more about other people’s histories and lived experiences, and I ask questions respectfully and listen carefully and non-judgmentally. DI.6-8.10 I can explain how the way groups of people are treated today, and the way they have been treated in the past, shapes their group identity and culture. JU.6-8.12 I can recognize and describe unfairness and injustice in many forms including attitudes, speech, behaviors, practices and laws.
