Episode Synopsis

Meet Andy, co-founder of Joybird, the creators of the fully-customizable, iconic mid-century modern and bold modern furniture. You do not wanna skip this jam-packed episode full of life lessons and valuable advice:On this interview we learn that this humble start-up sought to make $500k on their first year, and ended up making $4M. Of course that doesn't just happen out of nowhere. Andy shares how they had to raise capital from friends and family, including $100k from mom and dad. Practically all their retirement money at the time!He continues to share how he had to take a leap of faith, quit his job, and take a $25k pay cut to start Joybird. He also confesses the challenges they faced being "digital guys"; they could not manufacture the furniture themselves. Fortunately they figured that out and also how efficiently run business even with low capital in the beginning stages.A huge personal takeaway was the approach they took to "keep the customer engaged" by taking them on the journey on the production process with periodic updates , all the way until delivery. Keep in mind that they started out with a 4 to 5 week delivery time, which can feel like a long time for a customer. He explains that bringing a personal touch to the business also went a long way. And connecting at a personal level with their customers, he believes, ultimately kept them coming back for more products.Of course, it wasn't always a bed of roses; sometimes letting people go was necessary during business financial hardship. Transparency was a huge key during those times.Another thing that I appreciated about our conversation, was how he arrived to where he is today. In the midst of learning to market themselves, during his and his buddies' first venture together years before Joybird, they discovered affiliate marketing and how to drive traffic to sites. This would be a skill that he carried on into his marketing career, eventually his start-up, and even now as a full-time real estate investor. Some of my favorite key phrases/ideas from this episode:when there's an opportunity in front of you, you need to double down on it because it won't last longopportunities will continue to arise and we have a responsibility to be ready to take them on to continue to provide for our familiesremember, you need to suck at something before you can become great at itAndy's current life soundtrack : Breakout by N.E.R.D...Podcast Mastery : www.podcastmasterypack.com/offer?affiliate_id=4191890...follow us on instagram :Andy @itsandyhinoLevi @thatswhatlevisaidPodcast @raspberrylemonadepodcastAre you a business looking to Boost Online Presence? dm us the word "GUEST" @raspberrylemonadepodcast on instagram for a free podcast guest slot on our show!.....Start your own podcast!podcast starter pack :Need 1 interface https://amzn.to/3mBgMdaNeed at least 2 Mics https://amzn.to/3my6GtuNeed 2 boom mic arms https://amzn.to/3L0KxxgNeed 2 mic cables https://amzn.to/3L17hNNNeed 2 mic foam covers https://amzn.to/3o9vLvjNeed 1 SD card reader multi adapter https://amzn.to/41teBXRNeed 1 micro memory card with adapter https://amzn.to/41wMarU~ we will get a small percentage of each sale, so thank you in advance!
