Adopting new habits is often easier than letting go of old ones, especially if you’ve grown accustomed to unhealthy boundaries or patterns of behavior. It’s important to resist the urge to revert, even when maintaining those boundaries feels uncomfortable, particularly if you’re used to being overly emotionally supportive or highly empathic. Staying balanced means honoring your own well-being and carefully limiting who and what has access to you once those boundaries are established.
