Listen "Bike Racing in Gunma, School Turned Museum, Golden Week in Japan, and Giveaway!"
Episode Synopsis
Giveaway News! In this episode we mention a postcard mailing for anyone who gives this podcast a review! The first 6 people to write reviews will get a hand-painted watercolor postcard mailed from Japan, with a frog on it for good luck (Kaeru means both frog and "to return" in Japanese, which is why they're seen as symbols of good fortune returning!) Anyone after those 6 will receive paper frog stickers as a small token of good luck as well! Make sure to email us ([email protected]) to share your mailing address so we can get the good luck frogs to you - Thank You! As for the episode content... this past weekend we took a road trip to Gunma Prefecture for Zeb's 2nd JBCF (Japan Bicycling Club Federation) road race! We'll talk about how his race went, Annie's scenic ride, and our hotel in the hot spring area of nearby Niigata Prefecture. On the drive home, we stopped in Tokamachi to see the ex-Sanada Elementary School in Hachi Village, now transformed into a walk through museum by picture book artist Seizo Tashima. It's currently Golden Week here in Japan - what does that mean and what are the holidays for?
