Listen "Stefanie Lui Ten: Parent-child Communication | Raising Parents #5"
Episode Synopsis
Communication between parents and child resembles the relationship between them. Good communication is important to bring some understanding between you and your child as well as allowing both sides to feel heard.
In this episode of Raising Parents: Parenting Science Insights Podcast, host Dina Sargeant is joined by Stefanie Lui Ten, Head of Counselling at ParentalEQ, an experienced parent-child counsellor with a strong focus on parent-child relationships, and trained in a wide range of parenting programs focusing on emotions, behaviours, and relationships.
This episode started with her practice to improve communication in general, how important to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes, and how it is implemented in communication with children. Stefanie also gives an explanation of the reasons behind children’s tantrums in public and how it is related to parent-child communication. In the midst of the discussion, Dina and Stefanie also roleplay a scenario to practice some principles of communication that were explained before.
