Gospel Implication: Pilate is amazed by Jesus' presence, but will not give allegiance to Jesus' authority.   The Exchange of Jesus and Barabbas (Mark 15:6-11) During the Feast of Passover, it was typical for the Romans to grant a prisoner pardon. The Jewish crowd chooses to release Barabbas over Jesus. Gospel Implication: How Jesus stands in the place of condemned sinners.   The Verdict of Scourging and Death (Mark 15:12-15) The Sanhedrin influences the crowd to cry out for the crucifixion of Jesus. Pilate scourges Jesus and delivers Him to be crucified. Gospel Implication: "What shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" (Matthew 27:22)
