Listen "Jeanne Brink on Moccasin Tracks"
Episode Synopsis
In this podcast we talk with Jeanne Brink, Abenaki. She is continuing the Obomsawin tradition of fine craftsmanship in traditional Abenaki ash splint and sweetgrass basketry. She has taught 27 Abenaki relatives this fine art. In 2018 Middlebury College awarded her with an honorary degree.
We invited Michael Billingsley, longtime friend from Plainfield, Vermont to talk with us as he had helped in the project of renaming the brook in Plainfield to Mskaskek Brook, an Abenaki work meaning red spruce.
