*GPS misusing public funds for partisan political purposes*
1 April 2024- a total of 20 political secretaries (new appointments) to Sarawak Premier Johari Openg took the oath and signed a secret letter as well as the presentation of the appointment letter. With the appointment, this means that the Premier of Sarawak has a total of 32 political secretaries. Their appointment is for 2 years and will end in April 2026. The salary of a political secretary is RM9000 per month not including allowances. This means that the salary for these 32 political secretaries alone reaches RM3.35 million a year. Why so many political secretaries? Whereas Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim only has 3 political secretaries. John thinks this is a waste of taxpayers' money and a misuse of public funds for partisan political purposes. All these political secretaries are those proposed by YB from the PBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP parties. According to John, public funds should not be used to pay the salaries of political officials. After all, this appointed political secretary is only on duty to launch YBYB's political tasks in certain areas. They sometimes intimidate those who dare to oppose the government. They also threaten village leaders who are not aligned with the government and sometimes they will act more aggressively with words and actions. In other words. They are spies of the Premier of Sarawak. The position of political secretary is a training phase for GPS to assess the potential of a person to be appointed as an election candidate. It is proven that many of them have become YB (representatives of the people) after taking up the position involved. John suggested that the appointment of many political secretaries be stopped and also stop the use of people's money to promote political parties.
